Notification preferences resetting Empty Notification preferences resetting

Post by sarahliz Mon Jan 09, 2012 9:19 am

Help Matt!

I keep having to change the notification preferences as they seem to be resetting themselves...it'll be fine for a few days and then go back to not sending me emails when I get pm's or updates are made to threads. I did think it was just my email address being awkward (yahoo aren't really known for their spectacular service), but whenever I check the preferences they're set back to 'no'.

Just thought I'd mention it incase there's something weird going on...it might just be due to the servers resetting, as it's prompting log-ins more frequently at the moment.

Hi Sarah,

Just checked your settings and they seem fine at the moment. I've not had any issues or any prompts myself to relogin since the new year (when it would have for everyone). I guess it could be that you have a faulty cookie, have you tried wiping them and starting afresh?

Let me know if it happens again...

If you need them, I can take screenshots from my email...I've had them up to 9pm saturday...then nothing after that until 6pm yesterday...then more this morning until nearly 1pm today...then nothing since. I'm not getting alerts that you're commenting on this thread for example.

But it seems to be that the threads I commented on whilst the alerts were working I seem to still get them for...but anything during the period where it's not I just never get them, even when it's turned on.

Thanks for the info Sarah. If you go to Profile > Topic(s) being watched, is this thread we're on now in that list?

Yes, but a few threads I've commented on aren't...my thread about my new boars for example isn't on there.

Infact...apparently I'm not watching anything that was last posted on yesterday...which strikes me as odd.

I've checked topics I've posted on, and comments I've made...everything there is fine, all the posts are showing up.

Also...none of the emails are going into my spam.

And I definitely didn't click on the 'stop watching this topic' for the one's that aren't there.

I had a load of emails come through last night...so I think part of the problem may be either Yahoo not picking them up...or them getting delayed between the forums server and the yahoo server...if that makes sense?! Very Happy

But still doesn't explain why my profile settings are changing...I got Tracy to check her's last night and her profile settings had changed as well.

OK, the techs have said that there is an issue with the forum server and yahoo specifically connecting, it doesn't seem to affect people using different email providers. I use Yahoo myself but because I don't use email notifications or topic watching I haven't noticed! It should be resolved soon Smile

cool Very Happy that was starting to get annoying...nothing for hours and then 20+ emails in one go for things you'd already seen!

Any luck with the other problem?

Every time the settings have reset themselves, have you always had to relogin Sarah?

hmmm...no, I don't think so. But then it could have been a couple of days before I noticed...especially with yahoo not working properly.

I have signed in about 6 times though in the last 2/3 weeks, and only changed the settings back twice.

I'll pay more attention next time it asks me to log in and check the preference settings, and will let you know.
